About Natalia Derdena
Natalia Derdena is a California-based fine artist whose work reflects decades of classical training, international experience, and a deep connection to nature.
Born in 1963 and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, Natalia received her formal art education at the Taras Shevchenko Art School, followed by graduation from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in 1986. Shortly after graduating, she began teaching painting at the Kyiv Children’s Art School, where her leadership and artistic vision led to her appointment as Director of the school in 2003.
In 2016, Natalia founded her own private art school, Profi-Art, dedicated to developing classical painting skills and artistic thinking in the next generation of artists. Alongside teaching, she maintained an active professional art practice—participating in exhibitions, organizing international plein-air painting events, and traveling extensively throughout Europe with her students. These journeys included visits to major museums and immersive painting experiences across France, Italy, Greece, Germany, and other European countries.
In 2022, Natalia relocated to the United States, where she began a new and transformative chapter of her artistic career. Inspired by the light, landscapes, and natural beauty of California, her work evolved toward painting directly from life, capturing nature with heightened sensitivity, color, and emotional depth. Today, she lives and works in California and is actively involved in exhibitions and the artistic community of Los Angeles.
Natalia Derdena’s original paintings are held in private collections in the United States, Germany, France, Greece, and Ukraine, and continue to resonate with collectors who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and timeless fine art.
